RESULTS During the study period, 1,385,579 patients' data were analyzed. Of these, 981,281 patients were eligible for triage modification. The differences in down-triage proportions according to the profession of the triage provider (resident, 50.5%; paramedics, 47.7%; specialist, 44.9%; nurses, 44.2%) was statistically significant (P less then 0.001). The triage provider's professional down-triage proportion according to the medical condition of the patients showed statistically significant differences except for the unresponsive mental state (P = 0.502) and the case of air transport (P = 0.468). CONCLUSION Down-triage proportion due to abnormal heart rates and respiratory rates was significantly different according to the triage provider's condition. The existing concept of inter-rater reliability of the pediatric triage system needs to be reconsidered. © 2020 The Korean Academy of Medical Sciences.Engineering mechanically robust bioadhesive hydrogels that can withstand large strains may open new opportunities for the sutureless sealing of highly stretchable tissues. While typical chemical modifications of hydrogels, such as increasing the functional group density of crosslinkable moieties and blending them with other polymers or nanomaterials have resulted in improved mechanical stiffness, the modified hydrogels have often exhibited increased brittleness resulting in deteriorated sealing capabilities under large strains. Furthermore, highly elastic hydrogels, such as tropoelastin derivatives are highly expensive. Here, gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) is hybridized with methacrylate-modified alginate (AlgMA) to enable ion-induced reversible crosslinking that can dissipate energy under strain. The hybrid hydrogels provide a photocrosslinkable, injectable, and bioadhesive platform with an excellent toughness that can be tailored using divalent cations, such as calcium. This class of hybrid biopolymers with more than 600% improved toughness compared to GelMA may set the stage for durable, mechanically resilient, and cost-effective tissue sealants. This strategy to increase the toughness of hydrogels may be extended to other crosslinkable polymers with similarly reactive moieties. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Accumulating evidence highlights the genetic basis of EFS occurrence. METHODS In this study, we report a patient with primary infertility showing the characteristics of EFS from a consanguineous family. Under the treatment of assisted reproductive technique (ART), no oocyte was retrieved following the aspiration of mature follicles. Through whole-exome sequencing (WES), we discovered a novel recessively transmitted mutation in ZP1 (c.769 C>T, p. Q257*). RESULTS In vitro Co-immunoprecipitation assays showed that mutant ZP1 protein failed to interact with either ZP2 or ZP3, which explains the degenerated oocytes in the patient with EFS. CONCLUSION Together, our data further expand the spectrum of ZP1 mutations that are associated with human EFS and thus provide novel insight into the diagnosis of EFS patients. © 2020 The Authors. Addressing these uncertainties will provide more insight into PCRA and inform further research on the value of PCRA prevention. The goals of this study were to measure associations between PCRA and HRQOL at domain and subdomain levels, and to evaluate the association between PCRA and probable (ie, predicted major) depression. METHOD We analyzed secondary cross-sectional data from the North Carolina Prostate Cancer Comparative Effectiveness & Survivorship Study (NC ProCESS-a population-based cohort of prostate cancer patients enrolled shortly after diagnosis [between January 2011 and June 2013] and followed prospectively). Patient-reported measures of PCRA and HRQOL from 1,016 enrollees who participated in NC ProCESS's 1-year follow-up survey were assessed. Outcomes of interests were a) linear correlations between contemporaneous memorial anxiety scale for prostate cancer (MAX-PC) and Short Form 12 (SF-12) scores, and b) measures of association between indicators of clinically significant PCRA (ie, MAX-PC > 27) and probable depression during survey contact (ie, SF-12 mental component score ?43). RESULTS PCRA measures had notable associations with SF-12's mental health subscale (assesses low mood/nervousness [rho = -0.42]) and emotional role functioning subscale (assesses subjective productivity loss [rho = -0.46]). Additionally, the risk of probable depression was significantly higher in participants with clinically significant PCRA compared with those without it (weighed risk ratio = 5.3, 95% confidence interval 3.6-7.8; P less then .001). CONCLUSION Prostate cancer patients with clinically significant PCRA should be assessed for major depression and productivity loss. © 2020 The Authors. However, no action was taken by the individual. METHODS The individual took part in the Mayo Clinic Return of Actionable Variants Empiric (RAVE) study and the actionable finding was confirmed and results disclosed in person by a genetic counselor with subsequent referral to a hepatologist. RESULTS Further testing revealed iron overload with an elevated ferritin level (560 ng/ml) and increased ferritin saturation (74%). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/p22077.html Phlebotomy was initiated with subsequent normalization of the ferritin levels (252 ng/ml). CONCLUSION This case highlights that actionable genetic results may not be acted on after direct to consumer testing and the need for effective genetic counseling after such testing. © 2020 The Authors.
